Twitter CEO says Twitter will become the most accurate information source in the world.

The new CEO of Twitter, Linda Yaccarino, recently shared her thoughts on the platform’s free speech efforts in a thread posted on Monday. Among other things, Yaccarino said that Twitter is committed to supporting open dialogue and accurate information.

In her first thread as CEO, Yaccarino made several promises to the public, including the goal of making Twitter a leader in allowing people the freedom to express themselves. She stated:

“Twitter is on a mission to become the world’s most accurate real-time information source and a global town square for communication. That’s not an empty promise. That’s OUR reality.”

The Twitter CEO also talked about what Twitter 2.0 will bring, including the need for input from every user to achieve success. She emphasized that “we need to do it all together”.

However, Yaccarino’s thread did not address any specific issues at Twitter, which has faced challenges since Elon Musk’s takeover in 2022. Advertisers have paused campaigns, and the platform’s active users are posting less frequently.

Despite these challenges, Yaccarino’s experience in advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal Media may be an asset to Twitter. Nonetheless, she will have to grapple with concerns about safety on the platform following resignations of executives who handle safety and trust matters at the company.

Four Democrat senators recently wrote a letter to Musk and Yaccarino expressing concerns about Twitter’s ability to meet compliance and legal requirements due to recent changes at the company.
