Tezos to become 8x faster after ‘Nairobi’ upgrade.

On Monday, Tezos blockchain implemented its fourteenth upgrade called “Nairobi” which includes several improvements such as up to eight times faster transaction speeds.

Since March’s “Mumbai” upgrade, the blockchain could already process up to 1 million transactions per second (tps).

The Nairobi upgrade introduces a new fee mechanism that charges users differently based on network usage, as opposed to the previous versions which used a flat fee for all users.

Moreover, Nairobi allows Tezos’ Smart Rollups to be upgraded automatically as newer upgrades are implemented in the future, thus making it an even faster scaling tool for network usage.

Despite the upgrade, Tezos network usage is still significantly low. It only processed 68,000 transactions in the past 24 hours, compared to other popular blockchains.

At the time of writing, the network’s XTZ token had declined 2% to 80 cents.

According to data, Ethereum processed 1 million transactions, BNB Chain processed 3.9 million transactions, and Bitcoin processed 400,000 transactions in the same period.
