Crypto.com approved in Spain.
On Friday, Crypto.com announced that it has been registered as a virtual asset service provider (VASP) with the central bank of Spain, allowing it to offer its products and services to users in Spain. The registration was approved after a thorough review of the company’s compliance with Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD) and other financial crimes laws. The Bank of Spain opened a registry for crypto service providers in 2021, and other companies such as Binance, Bitstamp, and BVNK have already registered with the regulator. With the finalization of the European Union’s Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA), regulators in member states like Spain will begin applying new standards and requirements in accordance with the framework. Kris Marszalek, CEO of Crypto.com, stated that the VASP registration from the Bank of Spain is a testament to the company’s commitment to compliance and eagerness to work with regulators and public officials in responsibly advancing crypto and blockchain technology.
