Cardano Node Upgrade now live on Mainnet.
On Monday, developers released an upgrade aimed at reducing epoch transitions to make the Cardano blockchain smoother for its users.
Epochs are time periods on the Cardano blockchain, with each epoch lasting 432,000 slots. Each slot lasts 1 second, which means that a single epoch lasts around five days. During these epochs, ADA tokens are staked and new blocks are produced on the Cardano network.
The 8.1.1 upgrade modifies how epoch calculations are made, thereby speeding up network processes during epoch changes. Additionally, the upgrade fixes issues related to peer-to-peer network communications and the Cardano-based domain name system.
As of Tuesday morning in Europe, ADA prices remained relatively stable over the past 24 hours, trading at 25 cents according to CoinGecko.
