Time is a critical resource, and it's not always possible to create or recreate large quantities of materials ahead of time. It's important to be able to reuse the effort that has already gone into preparing presentation materials in other formats, and Beyond Question provides extensive support for this approach. PowerPoint® presentations, word processing documents, third-party content providers, and even printed materials-Beyond Question is designed to work with them all. Below are a few examples. PowerPointMany presenters today use PowerPoint as the tool of choice for displaying information and ideas, and Beyond Question provides unsurpassed support for this in the form of seamless integration with the PowerPoint application. Just use Beyond Question to open an existing PowerPoint presentation file on any computer with PowerPoint installed, and Beyond Question will automatically start PowerPoint if it's not already up and running and create questions that correspond to the presentation slides. Then just indicate which slides contain questions. Beyond Question will start the presentation for you at the appropriate time and will automatically remind students to answer when a question slide is encountered. All incoming answers are recorded, graded and made available for immediate review as usual. You can even use the instructor's remote to control the PowerPoint presentation. You can move between slides, control when students are allowed to answer, and toggle between PowerPoint and a bar graph showing how students have answered as a group. Word ProcessorsYou don't have to prepare your questions in Beyond Question. If you're more comfortable working in a more familiar word processing application, go right ahead. Just leave several blank lines between each question and make sure that you save the final result in "Text Only" format or, if you're using pictures, in "RTF" (rich text) format. Then open the file with Beyond Question. Your work will automatically be split into separate questions that are ready to go. Printed Materials Because Beyond Question doesn't require you to enter questions ahead of time, you can easily reuse existing printed materials, either by handing out copies or by using other display devices such as overhead projectors or document readers. Indicate to the group which question you're on and let Beyond Question collect the answers. New questions will automatically be added to the lesson as needed when you click the "Next Question" button, so you can go through the entire document without any preparation in Beyond Question beforehand. You can even pose questions to the group on the fly and use Beyond Question to record and display the responses. Beyond Question is there to work with you in the ways that you need it to. |
